Kampala International University | Kampala, Uganda | Advancing SDG 4, SDG 9 & UNAI 9

" My commitment to advancing SDG 4: Quality Education is driven by a simple belief: "every young mind holds an innovative idea waiting to be unleashed". The Millennium Fellowship provides the perfect platform to empower my peers and help turn their creative visions into a tangible reality. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Plug, Unlocking Innovation
The Plug, Unlocking Innovation is a youth-led initiative at Kampala International University (KIU) dedicated to bridging the gap between theoretical engineering and practical vocational skills. Addressing SDG 4 (Quality Education), the project provides out-of-school and unemployed youth in Uganda with hands-on mechanical training.
Throughout the Millennium Fellowship, we conducted workshops focused on welding, hydraulic systems, and the repair of essential infrastructure, such as medical hospital beds and surgical equipment. By empowering these young innovators with technical expertise, we are not only providing them with a path to employability but also creating a local solution for the maintenance of critical community health resources.
The project embodies the Millennium Fellowship core values of empathy and intentionality, ensuring that every training session directly serves the immediate technical needs of our local community.
