Millennium Fellowship Project: COLORED
Colored is an an empowerment initiative that seeks to reduce the rate of skin bleaching and health challenges associated with the use of straightening creams. The mission of this project is to eradicate beauty stereotypes that have been attached to African beauty. That very young girl or lady will believe and love the beauty of their curly hair and black skin
About the Millennium Fellow
Tracy Asamoah is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment who envisions a world where every Black woman can walk into any space with her natural hair; without judgment or the weight of stereotypes. Through her project, COLORED, She is tackling the rising rate of skin bleaching in Africa by addressing the deeply rooted insecurities women face regarding their melanin-rich skin. The initiative also enlightens women on the harmful effects of hair straightening creams and highlights the beauty and strength of embracing full, curly Black hair.
Through impact-driven storytelling, Tracy reminds the world of the timeless beauty of Black women- defined by women of Africa, for women of Africa.
