" Creating an informed community is the first step to creating a more knowledgeable world. Since stigma surrounding addiction stems from a lack of knowledge on the topic, distributing credible knowledge from trusted research is a crucial step for snuffing stigma surrounding drug use and drug use disorders. The skill I anticipate to gain from this fellowship will assist me in leading a successful harm reduction effort on and off campus. I am thrilled to take on the responsibility and honor of this fellowship for advancing the goals associated with the United Nations Academic Impact. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Harm Reduction Education: Lawrence

I plan to host information sessions that would inform the people of Lawrence on safe drug use and how they can be an advocate for harm reduction. These information sessions will be based on the current scientific research surrounding harm reduction along with data pulled from cities that utilize harm reduction methods for their communities. This will be done in a way that is digestible or a general audience and promotes a better understanding of how drug use should be 1) destigmatized and 2) done in a safe manner.
