Millennium Fellowship Project: Weed to Wealth
Weed to wealth, seeks to repurpose water hyacinth, an invasive weed choking aquatic life, blocking waterways and devastating the lake's ecosystem and the local economies reliant on it. This will be made possible by turning the invasive water hyacinth from Lake Victoria into a source of income by harvesting it and using it in craft making, producing baskets, mats, and other handmade products for sale.
