" I've always wanted to help people, one that led me into medicine. Taking part in the Millennium Fellowship will allow me to achieve my passion beyond expectations. By developing useful skills and connecting with other like minds, I will be able to contribute meaningfully to the health and well-being of communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Healthy Smiles
The Healthy Smiles Initiative is a school-based oral health awareness project designed to educate and empower secondary school students with the knowledge and habits they need to maintain clean, confident, and healthy smiles.
Our project focuses on helping young learners understand the importance of daily oral hygiene, proper brushing techniques, the dangers of excessive sugar intake, and how simple habits today can prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and embarrassing mouth odour in the future.
We engage students through interactive teaching, live demonstrations, fun activities, and practical examples that make oral health easy to understand and apply. The goal is not only to teach them what to do, but to inspire them to take responsibility for their own health in a way that fits their age and lifestyle.
By reaching children early, while their habits are still forming, we aim to build a generation of young Nigerians who value their oral health, smile confidently, and grow into adults with fewer dental problems and better overall well-being.
The Healthy Smiles Initiative is more than an outreach. It is an investment in the future of our communities, one child, one lesson, and one smile at a time.
