Millennium Fellowship Project: Shield Tamars
Tamar was a teenage girl who was curious, naive and uninformed about sex and sexuality thereby leading to her falling victim of uninformed sexual decision which halt her dreams and potentials. Hence, project Shield Tamars is designed to reach teenagers particularly girls in rural communities where uninformed sexual choices had led to series of consequences such as psychological trauma and emotional breakdown, unwanted teenage pregnancies and exposure to sexually transmitted diseases. For most part, these consequences has lasting effect on the girl child, whose dreams and potentials become halted as a result of these decision. Therefore, the goal is to provide girl child with adequate information about sexual right and reproductive health, provide supports particularly emotional upliftment and therapy to meet the needs of the survivors and victims of sexual abuse, while also encouraging the return of teenage mummies to school. Thus, the project primarily aims to ensure no girl child is left behind, build a community of teen girls who can make sexual decisions from the stand point of an informed person willing to take responsibilities for her actions . These therefore keeps every girl child in a sane place to pursue their dream and contribute meaningfully to community development.
