" The message, vision and mission of the program as well as its initiatives fueled by systems thinking, innovation, and collaboration. Being a part of the Millennium Fellowship will enhance these skills collaboratively. The skills I am looking to gain from the Millennium Fellowship will make my social impact on youth communities more tangible and aligned with the UNAI principles and SDGs. I am excited to increase my anticipatory competence by envisioning new ways of learning and development. I believe that the Millennium Fellowship will be a significant opportunity to apply my humble experience in leadership and entrepreneurship. In addition, it will offer me a place of more connections with those of similar innovative and ambitious minds; individuals dedicated to social impact. Beyond networking, I believe that this opportunity will amplify my efforts in promoting quality education. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: EcoWISE
Our project idea came for building a skilled team from and outside LAU students to collaborate and commit to helping any business that wants to work sustainably, starting from our university back to our schools, and maybe our villages and cities. Now our mission is to help the citizens contribute to sustainability in Lebanon, by not only raising awareness campaigns but by first being a lead in sustainable consultancy for most companies and startups in Lebanon, and second by leveraging an application that will give more points to those who work responsibly toward sustainability (Just like the Chinese social credit system). This application may be rewarding maybe in terms of money, or reputation, or tangible awards, or a club subscription, like part of the project. At the level of our university, we can start by turning the campus into a sustainable and clean campus. Then, can think of turning trash into cash, monitoring each stage of this process and encourage students get more interested in recycling. Or we can simply rank the most students who are sustainable and reward them with financial aid, we then collaborate with starting companies to empower their brand by being sustainable and socially responsible.
About the Millennium Fellow
Saad Alahmadieh is a bright, young and unique banking and finance student at the Lebanese American University in Beirut. I was born in Lebanon and living as well. I have always been passionate about advocacy for social contribution, environment caring, human wellbeing, and education. This drive and will has translated itself from my experiences in work, international communities, clubs and programs and through my continuous dedication to social actions. Throughout my high school years and currently in my college years, I have successfully organized various community service projects and sustainability practices/movements; which through my leadership, I plan to continue in the future. I aspire to be in a professional field where I can cultivate these advocacies further, and provide my contribution in the development of the United Nations’ Sustainable Goals.
