Millennium Fellowship Project: Attention Redefined

Attention Redefined is a project led by Sami Saliby from Lebanon. An undergraduate bioinformatics student at the Lebanese American University, Beirut, Lebanon, who lives with ADHD. ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulsivity, and activity levels. While it can present daily challenges, it also brings unique strengths such as creativity, resilience, and problem-solving. Despite having a reputation of being overly diagnosed, in fact, ADHD is underdiagnosed in many communities around the world, including Lebanon, where neurodivergence remains a topic unspoken of.
Through this project, I aim to raise awareness and provide accurate, accessible information about ADHD to both students and parents. The presentation will highlight what ADHD truly is, address common misconceptions, and share strategies for support and understanding. By fostering dialogue around neurodivergence, especially in a community where such topics are rarely discussed, this initiative seeks to reduce stigma and encourage empathy. The session will be interactive, combining scientific knowledge with personal experience, to ensure participants leave with a clearer perspective on ADHD and the unique strengths it can bring.
