Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Silah - مشروع صلة
This project brings together Lebanese youth from diverse religious, regional, and cultural backgrounds to challenge sectarian divides in society.
It involves collecting statistical data on youth experiences with stereotyping, their interactions across different communities, and their openness to inter-sectarian dialogue. The project also conducts workshops where participants share personal experiences, discuss struggles with preconceived notions, and explore ways to integrate and collaborate across backgrounds.
About the Millennium Fellow
Zahraa Mounir Srour is what her name is on any ID. In Lebanon, where anyone's middle name is that of their father, she is not only the daughter of Mounir but also of the village of Aita, right on the southern border. She leads with pride; proud of her determination in the face of a war that displaced her family and destroyed every home she's known, proud of her willingness to give despite all that was taken. Her summer was divided between her work with Himaya, a child protection organization under UNICEF, and her job as a science teacher, an occupation that peeled away every armor of reservedness she previously employed. She has now made it her goal to express herself, her roots, her family's name, with no constraints and full commitment to UN SDG 11, to secure the lives of all those in danger, so that no girl loses her home to war again.
