" I believe education is the bridge to equity—it has the power to break cycles of poverty and open doors to opportunity. As a Millennium Fellow, I am excited to amplify my voice and work alongside others to create meaningful opportunities for underprivileged children who are often left behind. This Fellowship gives me the chance to transform my passion for education into action that inspires hope and lasting change. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: awaClinic
awaClinic (Awareness and Access to a Clinic) is a mobile healthcare initiative dedicated to bringing quality health education and routine screenings to underserved communities and busy workplaces across Nigeria. Many people delay care due to ignorance, harmful health myths, or tight schedules. awaClinic bridges this gap by offering on-site medical services; blood pressure checks, glucose tests, hepatitis screening, and more, while also debunking dangerous health beliefs, like reliance on harmful herbal remedies. Each visit ends with referrals to nearby primary healthcare centers, ensuring long-term care and follow-up. Whether in rural areas or city offices, awaclinic brings the hospital to the people.
This project is a subsidiary of an already existing Mother-Project — awaHealth — a crowdsourcing platform that unites donors, volunteers, and healthcare providers to empower underserved communities by connecting them with the health resources they deserve. This empowers communities to take ownership of their health. On this platform, Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) and project creators can also submit healthcare initiatives and projects which can be funded in a collective effort.
