" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a platform to learn, grow, and connect with others who share my passion for improving health and nutrition. As a student, I'm driven by the desire to use my education to create meaningful change, especially for mothers and children, and this fellowship will help me build the skills and knowledge to make that possible. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: FROM PLATE to PLACENTA

My project, From Plate to Placenta, was inspired by something that really touched me. While volunteering at a community outreach, a pregnant woman came for a scan, and it showed that the fluid around her baby was low. She said she drank plenty of water but was advised to see her doctor. Sadly, I later heard that she lost the baby.
That moment stayed with me and made me realize how many pregnant women don’t fully understand how their food and drink choices affect their baby’s health not just for today, but for the baby’s growth in the womb. This project will help educate pregnant women, especially in underserved areas, on what to eat, what to avoid, and why it matters from the plate they eat from to the placenta that feeds their baby.
I want to make nutrition simple and practical for them not just general advice, but tailored, real information that can save lives.
