United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Empower Minds and End Addiction

Empower minds and End Addiction project is my
project which is about helping people understand
the dangers of drug and substance abuse. I want
to create awareness about how harmful drugs
can be , provide support to those who are
struggling and encourage healthier choices. My
project also includes sharing of useful arts skills
within the young people in the community so as
to enable them make some money and reduce
idleness which leads to drug and substance
abuse most of the time. My goal is to build a
stronger, drug-free community where everyone
can thrive. My dream is to impact as many young people as possible.

About the Millennium Fellow

Benaiah Orutwa is a dedicated history and archaeology with IT student at Maseno university, born and residing in Kenya. With a passion for promoting good health and wellbeing, drug and substance abuse reduction particularly alcoholism prevalent in her village. She has an ambition of connecting with international individuals to make a positive impact. As a dedicated peer counsellor since high school, she has counselled many, impacted lives and referred some for therapy sessions. Her recent project Empower Minds, End Addiction aims to contribute to the development of United Nations sustainable Goals and help many overcome addiction.
