Millennium Fellowship Project: Aftercare for Persons With Disability
Aftercare for person's with disability is project
aimed to help individuals to accept and rebuild
themselves .Person's with disability suffer
socially ,physically, emotionally ,economically
and psychologically after injuries. They
experiences neglect ,discrimination and abuse
from families or friends. The project objective is
to help them build their self-esteem and make
them productive and be useful in the society.
Socially I can help them understand themselves
and encourage them they can still go to work
have friends , participate in leadership and them
being involved in the society as how they used to
be. Physically they can be mobile by providing
wheelchairs and other material to help their
mobility , providing free gymnasium for
exercises. Emotionally to set up a workshop to
help with sharing their experience as individual
or group in order to recover and boost their self worth and self- esteem. Economically to train
them for skills and empowerment to reduce
dependency, skills on art work and short courses
, empowering them with start -up for them to be
financially stable .Psychologically to have
counseling sessions free of charge .By helping
people with disability they will be productive and
back to life "Disability is not inability" they can be
productive.
About the Millennium Fellow
I am Eunice Waithira Njuguna a born leader dedicated and ambitious lady with interest in social work, driven by passion to make a positive impact to all members of my community and beyond. I was born, raised and resides in Kenya. Am currently studying in Mount Kenya University, pursuing Bachelor degree in social work and administration. I have experience in aiding the vulnerable population, they include people who abuse drugs and person's living with disability. I have worked with Medically Assisted clinic and Spinal Injury Network where I have gained skills in problem solving, psychological support and program development. My goal is to help relieve people's suffering by providing compassionate support, fight for social justice and improve lives and communities.
