" "The Millennium Fellowship is allowing me different opportunities of experience while bettering the lives of others. I am eager to learn leadership skills, while giving back to my local community. I am thankful to provide opportunities that I once had as a child to others to encourage a brighter future for each individual. This program allows me to grow as an individual, and I am beyond grateful for that" "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Spread the Spark Club

We intend to visit local elementary schools in the Bethlehem area to encourage and uplift others in the school through the acts of kindness and creating activities for them to both benefit others and being seen themself. Examples of activities could include positive note exchanges, appreciation gifts for school faculty, and outreach projects for the school to promote kindness. While participating in helping others, we will emphasize the importance of the students looking out for their mental health, as this priority is not spoken of enough in elementary school. They will participate in self-regulation and social-emotional learning throughout the course of this club, through activities such as meditation and the recognition of “little joys” in their lives.

About the Millennium Fellow

Ava Larsen is a sophomore at Moravian University. She is studying early childhood and special education---hoping to one day be a public school teacher. She is involved in many different programs that help to make a difference in the community where she lives. Ava is always interested in helping make a difference in others' lives, and spreading kindness to the world. Throughout her project, she hopes to promote better health and well-being in a local elementary school as she begins a club.
