" "I want to give back to a community that has given me so much. With help and training from the Millennium Fellowship, I will be able to do just that. It will teach me how to successfully launch service projects that will create positive outcomes. It is my firm belief that everyone deserves access to opportunity, and that we need to level the playing field for those who are currently under-served. Through positive community programs, we can build equity and equality, even in the face of adversity." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Spread the Spark Club
We intend to visit local elementary schools in the Bethlehem area to encourage and uplift others in the school through the acts of kindness and creating activities for them to both benefit others and being seen themself. Examples of activities could include positive note exchanges, appreciation gifts for school faculty, and outreach projects for the school to promote kindness. While participating in helping others, we will emphasize the importance of the students looking out for their mental health, as this priority is not spoken of enough in elementary school. They will participate in self-regulation and social-emotional learning throughout the course of this club, through activities such as meditation and the recognition of “little joys” in their lives.
