" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow this year because I want to collaborate with other thinkers like me and continue to help impact those around through service. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Helping Hands: STEAM Into Learning
I initiated a civic engagement opportunity for students to be introduced to community service and learn what serving the community is all about. Students stay after school once a week and complete different service projects and ultimately raise money to purchase STEAM kits to be donated to William Penn. A few of the projects include cards for the elderly to be sent to nursing homes, cards for children in the hospital, dog toys for animal shelters, community clean-ups, as well as various other projects that could be utilized as a fundraiser or donated to other local organizations. The projects will be dependent on the needs of community organizations. This program is geared towards 4th and 5th grade students, including 10-15 students.
