Millennium Fellowship Project: Antimicrobial Resistance Sensitization Project (AMRSP)
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Sensitization project aims to empower the community through creating awareness about the causes of AMR, its consequences and prevention as many people completely lack knowledge about AMR and yet its rate of development is accelerated majorly through our actions. The major causes of AMR being misuse( for example sharing leftover drugs, not completing the treatment duration, self medication among others) and overuse of drugs -( maybe due to poor water quality and sanitation, people follow sick consistently, increasing demand for drugs, hence overuse). As a result microorganisms develop resistance to the drugs a phenomenon called AMR.
So this project not only aims at promoting responsible use of antimicrobial drugs through behavioral change but also emphasizes the need for a proper sanitation and good water quality so that we prevent infections that make us rely on drugs.
