" To begin with compassion and service, guided by scientific knowledge gained from study, fuels my commitment to improving community health and wellbeing. Joining the Millennium Fellowship will strengthen my leadership in healthcare initiatives, enabling me to transform my empathy-driven vision into sustainable actions that align with the principles of the fellowship i.e. UNAI principles and SDGs. The skills and connections I gain will help me expand access to quality healthcare, empower communities, and inspire others to serve with integrity and purpose." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Antimicrobial Resistance Sensitization Project (AMRSP)

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Sensitization project aims to empower the community through creating awareness about the causes of AMR, its consequences and prevention as many people completely lack knowledge about AMR and yet its rate of development is accelerated majorly through our actions. The major causes of AMR being misuse( for example sharing leftover drugs, not completing the treatment duration, self medication among others) and overuse of drugs -( maybe due to poor water quality and sanitation, people follow sick consistently, increasing demand for drugs, hence overuse). As a result microorganisms develop resistance to the drugs a phenomenon called AMR.
So this project not only aims at promoting responsible use of antimicrobial drugs through behavioral change but also emphasizes the need for a proper sanitation and good water quality so that we prevent infections that make us rely on drugs.

About the Millennium Fellow

To my belief Musimenta David is a dedicated and community-minded Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science student at Muni University, specializing in diagnostic pathways and healthcare services. Born in Kampala and now residing in Arua, David’s journey reflects a deep commitment to improving the wellbeing of people and the communities he serves. From an infantry age, David has believed that healthcare is more than a profession — it is a promise to care for others with empathy, integrity, and excellence. His passion for service extends beyond his academic pursuits; he takes active steps to ensure that citizens not only access healthcare but also experience it as a dignified and life-enhancing service. His leadership journey began in high school, where he led the Science Club to notable achievements and served as Communications Officer for the Red Cross. Today, he continues to inspire and mobilize others through his involvement in the Rotary Club of Kasangati, promoting values of service above self. Through these roles, he has built a record of fostering collaboration, championing community initiatives, and delivering on his commitments. His vision is to see better living conditions for his fellow citizens, by fulfilling his promises in healthcare service delivery and seeking additional resources to meet their evolving needs. He aspires to advance in his professional field while driving impactful community projects — blending scientific expertise with compassionate service to contribute to a healthier, more equitable society.
