Millennium Fellowship Project: Every Tree Matters

Every Tree Matters is a project that arose from the challenges facing farmers in my home village due to climate change and weather disruptions. Traditionally, farming seasons occurred twice a year—February to June and August to December—with rains expected at the start of each season to support planting. In recent years, however, this pattern has been disrupted. Last year, no rain fell during the second season in August, and it only arrived in October. Early-planters’ seeds dried up, and late-planters had extremely poor or no yields. These changes, caused in part by deforestation and other environmental disruptions, threaten the livelihoods of local farmers, including my own parents who work hard to support our family.

To address this, the project encourages tree planting in villages to mitigate the escalating effects of climate change. It engages farmers and local communities in sustainable environmental practices, aiming to restore hope for farming families and rebuild ecological balance. Through this initiative, I have learned how to organize efforts, involve more village members, and implement activities successfully.
