Millennium Fellowship Project: The Kiwempe Drainage Initiative
The Kiwempe Drainage Initiative is a community-led project addressing a severe public health crisis for families in Kiwempe Village. The project directly addresses SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) by clearing blocked drainage trenches filled with stagnant, waste-filled water near people's homes. This action is critical to protect the health of children who play in the area and to improve the living conditions for all residents by reducing flooding, eliminating foul odors, and preventing the spread of waterborne diseases like cholera and malaria.
