" "I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because I believe that small actions rooted in purpose can lead to lasting change. Through medicine and research, I aim to be part of the solution—creating healthier communities and a better environment for all." "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Eco Health Green Pulse
EcoHealth Green Pulse is a youth-driven health and environmental justice movement founded by the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025 at Mulungushi University. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, environmental awareness, and community action — empowering young people to lead solutions that promote both public health and ecological resilience.
Zambia faces increasing health risks from polluted water, unsafe air, and poor waste management, all exacerbated by climate change. Yet, awareness of how these environmental hazards affect public health remains limited. EcoHealth Green Pulse addresses this challenge by translating complex scientific and medical knowledge into community-friendly education, storytelling, and advocacy.
Our goal is to ensure that every young person understands their role in protecting both human health and the planet — fostering a generation that builds the sustainable, green cities they want to live in.
About the Millennium Fellow
My name is Steven Kumeleni, a proud Zambian and a passionate medical student at Mulungushi University. I'm not just studying medicine — I'm on a mission to become a solution-driven leader in health and environmental transformation. I believe that true impact comes from blending knowledge with purpose, and that's why I have a strong interest in health research and finding innovative ways to improve lives. Whether it's tackling medical challenges or advocating for a cleaner, healthier environment, I strive to be a light in every space I enter. I'm grounded, focused, and driven by the bigger picture — leaving the world better than I found it.
