Millennium Fellowship Project: Youth Empowerment Project
The project was set to encourage students in secondary schools in our community to remind them of the value of education, but also motivate them to continue pursuing their studies. We would give them tips on how to succeed in school, but also given them direction on their road to further studies.
About the Millennium Fellow
Dodiye Hakizimana is a determined and ambitious individual who has overcome significant challenges in his life. Born in Burundi, Dodiye was forced to flee his home country at a young age due to conflict and instability. Dodiye grew up as a refugee and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), where he is in his second year.
Dodiye is resilient and determined, As a refugee in the Dzaleka Refugee Camp, he faced various challenges but remained focused on his goals.
While in secondary school, Dodiye developed a strong passion for education and advocate for refugees and young girls rights. He was a hostel prefect, which marked the beginning of his leadership role. He also joined the Youth Advisory Panel, a subgroup under Plan International. This experience strengthened his commitment to working with young people and giving back to his community.
Dodiye is currently pursuing his degree, with a focus on building a brighter future for himself and making a positive impact in his community.
