Millennium Fellow i believe will offer me the best platforms on how best SDGs can be attained sustainably locally. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Waste Management Initiative at Chinese Camp Hostel
This project is primarily focused on waste management. Observing poor waste disposal in our nearby community, Chinese Camp Hostel, we decided to take the initiative to make a difference, especially on days when hired cleaners were not available. The target audience is fellow students residing in the hostel. The project accomplished better waste management practices on campus, improved the sanitation and health of the hostel, and filled the gap when cleaners were unavailable. The initiative also promoted the spirit of maintaining a clean environment through the actions of the project.
About the Millennium Fellow
Paul Shagant is a young and passionate student studying at Malawi University of Science and Technology in Thyolo District of Malawi, pursuing Bachelor of Science in Water Quality and Management. As a science student studying a course that dwells much on climate change and environment concerns, Paul is pretty much focusing on finding ways of reducing and building resilient ways of curbing the impacts of climate change in rural settings by encouraging people to plant more trees and being involved in the sustainable management of the environment. This goal is in line with SDG 6 and 13 as well as Malawi 2063 vision.
