ABOUT THE MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP - CLASS OF 2025

United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Safe Haven Initiative

Safe Haven initiative is a campus project for the Millennium Fellowship class of 2025, at Mbarara university of science and technology, Mbarara-Uganda. It focuses on promoting mental well being for all through creating mental health awareness amongst the groups at risk of developing mental health disorders, promoting preventive measures and offering emotional support to such groups. It also aims at providing counseling services to those undergoing mental health disorders.

About the Millennium Fellow

Shedrach Abigaba Nuweamanya is a brilliant Ugandan, a globally competitive pharmacy final year student at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, town campus. He is born in Uganda and also resides in Uganda where he is currently pursuing his second degree, bachelor's of pharmacy. He is truly a Ugandan and global citizen. Shedrach has always championed having better lives via prevention of diseases especially cancers and HIV. The need to take the fight upfront had him be enrolled for a second degree,(the degree I had done first, bachelor's of science in pharmaceutical science,basically looks at manufacturing drugs for existing diseases), pharmacy however would offer an opportunity to meeting patients and caretakers and create awareness in regard to better living.
He has also attended many toxicological workshops to help better understand how we could decrease toxins in the environment but also document the results following risk assessment
