Millennium Fellowship Project: Roots of Joy - The Happiness Cup

This project aims to make the Northeastern and Boston community happier by spreading the science of well-being, creating kindness days, and giving back to the community.

During the semester, we started with the “What Makes You Happy” kindness day at Northeastern, where students wrote down what made them happy on sticky notes in exchange for a treat. This encouraged reflection on key moments or people that bring joy, sparking smiles and meaningful conversations. Our second kindness day was a Halloween-themed trick-or-treat event, where students spun a wheel to land on either a trick, answer a happiness-based trivia question, or receive a treat, gaining a Halloween goodie bag.

Over the past few months, we also collaborated with several student organizations focused on well-being and empowerment, including attending a yoga session at the school’s Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service to foster a sense of belonging and connection. All of this was complemented by bi-weekly meetings teaching about the science of well-being.
