" Integrity and empathy are essential for building inclusive and resilient communities. The Millennium Fellowship offers a unique opportunity to strengthen these skills in a collaborative environment. Through this program, I aim to deepen my understanding of social impact strategies that are both community driven and aligned with the UNAI principles and Sustainable Development Goals. I am very excited and anticipatory to explore the endless opportunities that await me. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Empower Her

My project called "Empower Her" is an initiative that is aimed at promoting gender equality and providing opportunities, as well as ensuring the wellbeing of girls and women at large. Through the course of my Millennium Fellowship I was able to reach about 12 girls by providing them with some educational learning materials for the children, to enable them perform better while at the same time motivating them to write in school.

About the Millennium Fellow

Abubakar Nabihah is a goal driven, globally-minded and dedicated public health student currently studying at the Nile University of Nigeria. She was born in Nigeria and is currently schooling in FCT Abuja and is currently studying public health. Nabihah has always been passionate about addressing healthcare and gender inequalities, understanding the barriers that limit people from accessing health care and promoting health education. With a particular interest in disease prevention and gender equality, she has consistently demonstrated her dedication through both academic excellence through community outreaches and with other extracurricular activities. Throughout her academic journey, she has taken the initiative to be a part of her university's founding member of the first health centered club health. She has taken initiatives to be amongst health outreaches and awareness activities, aiming to educate underserved populations and emphasize on the importance of preventative healthcare. As she continues her studies, she remains focused on becoming an impactful force in the public health sector. And she hopes to work with health organizations both international and national and also non-governmental organizations, where she can design and implement impactful health programs, advocate for vulnerable populations, and influence meaningful change in public health systems across communities and the world at large.
