" I have seen the effect of limited information and the difference education can make, and I believe every individual deserves the access to quality education and care to help change their future, regardless of where they live. The Millennium Fellowship provides me the guidance and networks to help make my vision on improving maternal and child health, through education a reality. I'm excited to be a Millennium n fellow because it means being a part of global community helping to change the world one problem at a time "
Millennium Fellowship Project: The Brain Builders
As a medical student training in Abuja, I have witnessed the devastating effect of malnutrition and stunting on children. I believe that educating caregivers about affordable and sustainable nutritional practices can transform a child’s future, ensuring they grow healthy, strong and capable of reaching their full potential. These experiences created the idea of “The Brain Builders”. The project focuses on nutritional education for enhancing cognitive and holistic child development. Nutritional education would be integrated into the daily health talks in pediatrics ward and outpatient clinic in Asokoro District Hospital and Wuse General Hospital. Integrating this initiative into the existing hospital’s routine ensures sustainability while addressing the critical need for better nutrition and child development practices. The project would highlight the value of locally available, affordable, and seasonal foods, offering practical advices to caregivers on preparing meals that promote holistic child development, including cognitive skills, physical growth and immunity
