Millennium Fellowship Project: The SHE (Safety, health, and empowerment) project

SHE Project is a gender equality and women empowerment initiative focused on equipping women and girls in public schools across Niger with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive. The project addresses critical issues such as recognizing and responding to sexual abuse, providing comprehensive sex education, and fostering skill empowerment to promote self-reliance and independence.
By creating safe and supportive environments for education, this project seeks to empower women and girls to identify abuse, assert their rights, and develop life-enhancing skills. Through workshops, mentor ship programs, and community engagement, the initiative aims to combat societal stigmas, break the cycle of abuse, and inspire a generation of confident, empowered women ready to lead and create change.

About the Millennium Fellow

Franklyn Favour Florence is a bright, young, and globally competitive medical student at Nile University of Nigeria. Born and raised in Abuja, Nigeria, she is currently pursuing her medical studies in the same city.
For as long as she can remember, Favour has been deeply passionate about female empowerment and unbiased gender rights. This passion is rooted in her upbringing and her experiences in rural communities where she spent much of her early life.
During her high school years in a rural setting, Favour witnessed firsthand the harsh realities of life especially the way women and girls were often treated as second-class citizens. Many of them had no clear future goals or the opportunity to dream beyond the limits of their environment. These experiences saddened her, but more importantly, they ignited a lifelong drive to make a difference.
Favour aspires to become not just an excellent doctor but also a travelling medical professional, committed to reaching underserved and hard-to-reach communities around the world. Her vision goes beyond providing healthcare. She hopes to bring hope, joy, and inspiration to the people she serves.
Through her work, Favour intends to help bridge societal gaps and actively contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that equity, empowerment, and access to healthcare reach even the most marginalized populations.
