" " Being a Millennium Fellow means being someone with the ability and platform to create change. As someone passionate about change, I could not be more excited to for chance to use this platform to mobilize the community, and fight against starvation and malnutrition prevalent in the city. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Aaharasya

Project Aaharasya is a novel initiative undertaken by the students of the National law university, Delhi aimed at addressing the fundamental socio - economic problem of food insecurity. Our ultimate goal is to create a community which can make contributions towards solving this issue. In an attempt to achieve the same, we have established a community with the professed aim of raising awareness and mobilizing people to reduce food wastage, donate to feed those who lack the means and hold meaningful discussions amongst the youth and stakeholders to find sustainable solutions. Herein, we intend to hold a monthly “ langar sewa”, a concept of sikh patronage, which is a form of community kitchen that provides free meals to all, with the aid of the administration and students of the university. Additionally, food insecurity is further perpetuated by lack of access to nutritional food which is prevalent even among classes from higher socioeconomic backgrounds, thereby widening the scope of the vulnerable population. We intend to cater to such a population using online platforms by creating content that spreads awareness about nutrition inculcation in the Indian diet, with the advice from experts from the field.

About the Millennium Fellow

Maanya Chaturvedi is a third year law student at National Law University, Delhi. Born and raised in Delhi, she has always enjoyed the city's chaotic blend of cosmopolitan and cultural. However, witnessing the vast disparities of her city made her passionate about social justice from a young age, and motivated her to turn to law as an instrument of social change. She hopes to use the opportunity of the Millennium Fellowship to create positive impact and help reduce some of the pain and suffering present in her hometown
