" Being a part of Millennium Fellowship will connect me to the people who share a similar vision. It will provide me a host of opportunities where I can make a more tangible social impact. The skills I gain from Millennium Fellowship will help me realise my passion for the community even further. I am excited for everything that the Fellowship has for me, every learning opportunity, every session with fellow members, every session with my campus cohort and most importantly the knowledge I will gain. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Zero Waste Zone

It actively improves waste segregation and disposal to minimize landfill contributions by introducing four bins: black for plastic and metal, green for biodegradable wet waste, white for paper and cardboard, and red for hazardous waste like sanitary napkins and lab chemicals. An organisation called Chintan in New Delhi, recycles e-waste and plastic waste. By establishing a tie-
up with Chintan we could send across our black bin waste for recycling. Green waste could be turned into manure by composting. And can also be used to make bio enzyme which provides a greener alternative for surface cleaning purposes over chemical disinfectants. Lastly, the paper and cardboard waste can be easily recycled through locally available paper recycling plants. Through implementation of this project, waste reaching the landfill is limited to the red category.
We also aim to advance the utilisation of technology for waste disposal and management on campus, which includes smart bins, IOT-enabled composters, and pyrolysis units, to convert waste into usable energy.
