Millennium Fellowship Project: Beyond Boundaries: A Child's Right to Education
This project aims to extend quality education to everyone and the major focus lies on the children of migrant workers in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. Ernakulam is one among the places in Kerala, where a large number of migrant workers come in search of jobs. Firstly, we plan to compare urban and rural educational access through surveys and research and then study the socio-economic factors that are challenging the access of education to the children of migrant workers. Our second stage is to look into the government's stance on these challenges and the works and initiatives that the government had undertaken so far. We will try to look into the NGOs or foundations working for this cause and will actively try to collaborate with them. We believe that there may be a lack of awareness about the opportunities available to them and so our next step will be to provide awareness to parents and teachers and ensure maximum enrollment and prevent dropouts. Connecting with NGOs that provide support for higher-studies is the next step . We will find students interested in law field and help them with the procedure of entrance examinations, as we are only familiar with law.
