United Nations Academic Impact and MCN are proud to partner on the Millennium Fellowship. This year, 60,000+ young leaders applied to join the Class of 2025 on 7,000+ campuses across 170 nations. 290+ campuses worldwide (less than 5%) were selected to host the 4,500+ Millennium Fellows.

Millennium Fellowship Project: Special Children Education Welfare Program

The project revolves around on educational institutions for special and disabled children. Through my research, I have identified numerous challenges faced by teachers In these institutions, primarily due to lack of government support. In Pakistan, there are a few private educational institutions for these children, and their expense is too much that every disabled child may not be able to study and fulfil his dreams.
During my interaction with few teachers, I gained valuable insights into concerns of parents regarding their children's education. While parents are enthusiastic about their children's capabilities, they tend to overlook their unique capabilities. The teacher said that they are so capable that they can succeed more in life if their skills are enhanced. But there is no one to support them regarding skills. Parents are focused on their children following the stranded curriculum, which can be daunting for them to grasp. To address this issue, I propose counselling services for both children and their parents, involving government support to improve the child's overall well-being. There aren't much affordable institutions most of them are with that of high educational fee.
As a result of this project, I aim to raise awareness about the importance of special children and the need to integrate them into society without discrimination. We shouldn't isolate them just because they are different. I hope to empower people with knowledge and skills necessary to support these individuals in living fulfilling lives as normal citizen.
This initiative specifically focuses on empowering kids with developmental challenges by fostering an inclusive learning environment. The goal was to level the playing field for these kids, enhancing their learning opportunities, nurturing their communication skills, and promoting holistic growth within a specialized educational setting.

About the Millennium Fellow

Eisha Khalid is an aspiring public health leader and undergraduate student at the National University of Medical Sciences, Pakistan. Hailing from Gulzar e Quaid, Rawalpindi. She is driven by a deep commitment to bridging healthcare gaps in underserved communities. Eisha has actively volunteered at The Special Children's School and professional communication. Through the Millennium Fellowship, she aims to amplify her impact and contribute to sustainable public health advancements.
