" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers an official platform and mentorship that are often hard to access, empowering me to turn my compassion for both people and animals into meaningful action for society. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Project Pawtection

This project is mainly focused on creating awareness about animal welfare and rights, especially
among communities where people either fear animals or simply do not know how to interact
with them. In our society, animals are often seen as dangerous or unworthy of care, which leads
to neglect, abuse, or complete ignorance of their needs. A major reason behind this is that people
lack the understanding of animal body language, which is very important in deciding when we
should and should not approach them. Without this knowledge, interactions often end up harming
both humans and animals.
Children, especially those from underprivileged or uneducated backgrounds, are even more
vulnerable in this regard. Many of them treat animals as toys due to lack of early education which
leads to insensitivity, sometimes cruelty, and a lifelong gap in empathy. Another challenge is that
even when people want to help, they simply don’t know what to do. In cases where they witness
animal abuse or find an injured or helpless animal, they have no awareness about which
organizations or NGOs to approach. Many do not even know about the animal rights, laws,
and policies already implemented in Pakistan for the protection of animals
