" “Working in nutrition and awareness has taught me that change doesn't always start with something huge—it can begin with a single question, a shared meal, or a moment of understanding. These simple efforts today can shape lasting change, and that’s why I do this work and why I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Nutrition Awareness for Rural Youth

I'm studying human nutrition and dietetics and I've realized that a lot of kids, especially in rural areas don't really get the chance to learn basic things about healthy eating, growth pattern, balance diet etc. It's not their fault, they just don't have access to right kind of information. I want to create something simple but useful that helps school-aged kids understand how to to eat better and take care of their health. My project is called NutriAccess. I plan to design easy, understandable nutrition kits for rural schools-- things like e-posters, activity sheets, fun visuals about healthy snacks and drinking water. These will be either in printed or shared in pdfs, so they're more affordable and can reach more people. It will also include small guide for teachers or parents so they know how to talk to kids about food in positive way. I'll focus on visuals, text, and written communication as goal is to make simple, relatable content that speaks for itself. I hope to work with a few nearby schools and communities and get the material out to at least a few hundred kids.will collect feedback from teachers and improve the kits as I go.
