" "I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it offers a powerful platform to challenge harmful social practices like witch hunting. I believe in using education, awareness, and community engagement to restore dignity and justice to those affected. This fellowship empowers me to collaborate with passionate peers and create sustainable impact where it’s most needed." "

Millennium Fellowship Project: DAYAN

Project DAYAN is about helping survivors of witch-hunting in Jharkhand. Many women are falsely accused of being witches, leading to violence, social exclusion, and lifelong trauma. Our goal is to understand their struggles, spread awareness, and help them rebuild their lives. First, we will study the psychological trauma these victims face by working with NGOs, government reports, and experts. This will help us understand their experiences better and figure out the best ways to support them. Next, we will meet with survivors through NGOs and talk to them about the help available to them. Many don’t know about the government schemes, scholarships, and employment opportunities that can improve their lives. By making them aware of these options, we hope to give them a chance at financial independence. At the end of the semester, we will measure our success by looking at how well these women have been rehabilitated and sensitized to the resources available. Our project isn’t just about research—it’s about making real changes in their lives and helping them move forward with dignity.
