" Getting an education has been the single most developmental aspect of my personality, allowing me to express my opinions in a more informed way. Education has given my mind an outlet. I want to ensure that the skills and knowledge I have acquired are passed down to other students. I am hence very excited to work on the UN developmental goal 4 and to integrate other goals in my work as well. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Distinct Learning
Distinct Learning is a heartfelt initiative aimed at tutoring students, specifically those in Pakistan who cannot afford additional help or simply an education. Many of the children struggle to afford quality education or an education altogether. Apart from this, even students attending educational institutions providing quality education find it difficult to afford additional help classes in case of difficulty understanding a subject, as extra money is charged for these services. My academy targets this disparity in education caused by a lack of financial assets. As Distinct Learning is an online platform, it is not yet accessible to a wide range of students, that is something I aspire to overcome in the future by creating and giving it a physical location. With the page still in its developmental stage, I hope to make it grow and influence the masses.
About the Millennium Fellow
Zainab Ishtiaq is a young, aspiring Chemical Engineer currently in the second year of her education. She was born in the United Arab Emirates and is currently based in Pakistan. Recognizing education to be her most important asset, she is a firm believer in the concept of “Education for All”, that no child must be held back from receiving an education merely due to limited resources. Currently, she is working on materializing her beliefs by starting a non-profit academy, providing free resources to deserving students.
