" I am deeply honored to become a Millennium Fellow. Growing up in Musakhail, Balochistan, I saw how lack of infrastructure and limited educational opportunities held back talented youth. This inspired me to found the Umeed Foundation, through which I strive to empower underprivileged students with hope and access to learning. As a Millennium Fellow, I'm excited to strengthen my leadership and engineering skills, collaborate with a global community of change makers, and build sustainable pathways that uplift marginalized communities. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Rising Stars-Eduhut
The Rising Stars Initiative – EduHut aims to bridge the educational gap faced by children in Islamabad’s slum and underserved communities. Many of these children are deprived of basic education due to financial hardships, lack of awareness, and limited access to learning facilities. EduHut seeks to address these barriers by providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and confidence among young learners.
The project operates through the establishment of small community-based learning centers—“EduHuts”—where volunteer educators conduct regular teaching sessions focused on foundational literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills. In addition to academic learning, the initiative integrates health awareness sessions, storytelling, art, and interactive activities to promote holistic development and wellbeing.
Parents and community members are also engaged through awareness drives and interactive workshops designed to highlight the importance of education and hygiene. By fostering partnerships with local volunteers, youth organizations, and educational institutions, the Rising Stars Initiative ensures sustainability and community ownership of the project.
Ultimately, EduHut envisions creating a model that can be replicated in other underserved areas, empowering children to dream bigger and equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
