" “I believe education is one of the most powerful tools for healing, rebuilding, and empowering youth—especially in communities affected by conflict. Being a Millennium Fellow gives me the chance to deepen that impact with purpose and solidarity.” "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Student to Student-Tigray (S2S-T)
Student-to-Student Tigray (S2S–T) is a student-led program within Together With Africa (TOWAF). It was founded by Tigrayan students who earned full scholarships to U.S. universities. Drawing on their own journeys, they mentor high school and gap-year students in Tigray whose education has been disrupted by the civil war.
Through peer-to-peer guidance, SAT preparation, and a growing library of resources, S2S–T equips underserved youth with the tools to pursue higher education abroad. Ambassadors, students admitted to top institutions, support mentees with essays, financial aid, interviews, and cultural orientation. By connecting successful applicants with prospective students, S2S–T builds a cycle of mentorship and opportunity, turning resilience into access and hope into transformation.
