Obafemi Awolowo University | Ife, Nigeria | Advancing SDG 6, SDG 3 & UNAI 9

" I am committed to creating sustainable solutions that address real problems in my community. I believe that when people come together with the right tools, knowledge, and determination, lasting change is possible. The Millennium Fellowship offers me a platform to amplify my impact, collaborate with like-minded leaders, and turn ideas into actions that improve lives. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: Great Ife WaSH
Great Ife WaSH began from a concern raised by Imoleayo Babatunde about unsafe water storage and poor sanitation practices in halls of residence at Obafemi Awolowo University. What started as his initiative evolved into a collaborative Millennium Fellowship project when Akinola Omonitojue, Anuoluwapo Ogunjuyigbe, and Adeola Adeyemo joined to expand the impact.
Together, the team led the cleaning of water tanks in Awo Hall and Moremi Hall, directly improving access to safer water for residents. Beyond the physical intervention, they engaged hall executives across nine halls of residence to advocate for structured maintenance routines and responsible water use. Despite low initial interest and logistical restrictions from hostel authorities, the team persisted through coordination, volunteer mobilization, and consistent engagement.
The project was strengthened by the support of volunteers including Ayomide Abilewa, Joseph Adeaga, Boluwatife Jidonu, and others who contributed to execution. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to practical service, collaboration, and sustained community impact.
