" I moved a lot as a child. And I was a student multiple times in public schools, lacking access to books, a platform to encounter art, and proper education. Over the last few years I have worked on providing access to university students to art by organising art festivals, weekly readings, and monthly book sessions. Being a member of the Millennium Fellowship will enhance my ability to mediate access to quality eduation, not just to tertiary students but also to those at the elemental level, through leveraging the skills I gain from the Fellowship and the stories of other fellows across the world. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Book Donation Project

This initiative aims to rejuvenate the students’ library of the Department of English at Obafemi Awolowo University by soliciting donations of impactful books from individuals both within and outside the university.

The department library had become scanty and inefficient for student development. The project helped refill the library with useful books, advancing the knowledge of students across the department, regardless of their class or year of study.

About the Millennium Fellow

Isaiah Gbenga Adepoju is a passionate artist and an art administrator from Osun State, Nigeria. From the violence of domestic abuse and the rigour of constant movement across the country, creative writing is how he carves a space for himself. Now a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, he is using art as a medium of connection among university students, and platforming underrepresented and marginalised stories. He is extending his interest to include elementary school students in his town, by mobilising book donations and study materials for them, and organising art programmes-- writing workshops and festivals.
