" I believe meaningful change begins in conversations that challenge comfort and expand imagination. The Millennium Fellowship offers a space to transform those conversations into collective action, and I am excited to contribute my voice, research, and leadership toward building more inclusive and equitable futures. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: In conversation with Palak

It is a diverse, introspective scholarly conversation series that puts together students, instructors, and professionals into conversation on issues of the day in the areas of politics, society, and academia. In creating this space, this project sets up an open yet intellectually dense environment for interdisciplinarity beyond classrooms or peer-reviews. The project is about taped and casual interviews or chats—either with professors, students, or community experts—about contemporary issues, policy choices, feminist and critical theory, and the everyday lived experience of getting through academia. By incorporating discussions of my own research articles and thoughts, I hope to make academic work personal, relevant, and more openly debated. Each gathering revolves around a topic that connects with actualized problems of our world, be it gender justice, political fragmentation, educational inequity, or civic activism. While anchored in feminist care ethics and inclusions, the initiative is also open-ended and fluid, being curious, critically oriented, and accessible. Such conversations will be made available via audio/video clips or text postings across online mediums and in campus networks to extend an invitation for others to engage with the dialogue. It's about thinking together, valuing difference, and reclaiming academic voice for those too often silenced in the traditional spaces.
