" I have seen the barriers in the mental health field up close as a med student myself , so I understand how challenging it can be to bring real change. Right now, I don't have a strong platform to make that change happen. That is why I'm so excited about the Millennium Fellowship.
I believe that this Fellowship can help me turn my ideas for improving mental health from thoughts into reality It would give me the guidance, resources, and connections I need to take concrete steps forward. It would also give me the chance to work with others who care deeply about mental health, just like I do.
By collaborating and learning from different perspectives, I know we can create solutions that are more creative, inclusive, and impactful. For me, the Fellowship would be the perfect starting point to bring my mental health project to life. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: AdolEssence: The Real Talk

AdolEssence: The Real Talk is a youth-centered awareness and empowerment program designed for students aged 11–16 (Classes 6–10). The project addresses key aspects of adolescence—including puberty, mental health, personal hygiene, healthy relationships, internet safety, and life skills—through interactive sessions, workshops, and creative tools. By creating safe spaces for open dialogue and learning, AdolEssence equips adolescents with knowledge, confidence, and resilience to make informed decisions for their well-being.
Measurable Goals (August–December 2025):
1. Reach at least 200 students across schools in the community.
2. Conduct 5+ interactive workshops with active participation.
3. Establish an anonymous question platform in every participating school to address sensitive queries.
4. Develop and distribute visual learning materials (posters, digital content, handouts).

About the Millennium Fellow

Abhipsa Subedi is a medical student from Nepal  who believes that  healing is much more than medicines and diagnoses and is about caring for the mind as much as the body. She has seen how mental health challenges can  weigh on both  students and also  patients, and this motivates her to create spaces where people feel truly safe, heard, and understood. To the people around her, Abhipsa is the friend who notices when someone is not themselves, the classmate who checks in with a smile or a message, and the volunteer who brings warmth to every health camp. Her approach to medicine is  built on kindness, empathy, and the belief that sometimes the right words or a listening ear can heal as much as any prescription.
