" I am excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it aligns perfectly with my personal journey and my commitment to making a positive impact. Having overcome a four-year battle with mental health challenges, I have learned the value of empathy, resilience, and purposeful action. This fellowship would give me the platform to amplify my work—raising awareness about mental health, creating accessible educational content, and empowering others to break stigma.
I believe the Millennium Fellowship will not only enhance my leadership skills but also connect me with a global network of change makers who share the same passion for sustainable development. I am eager to collaborate, share my experiences, and learn from others, so that together we can contribute meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals and create a lasting difference in our communities. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: AdolEssence: The Real Talk

AdolEssence: The Real Talk is a youth-centered awareness and empowerment program designed for students aged 11–16 (Classes 6–10). The project addresses key aspects of adolescence—including puberty, mental health, personal hygiene, healthy relationships, internet safety, and life skills—through interactive sessions, workshops, and creative tools. By creating safe spaces for open dialogue and learning, AdolEssence equips adolescents with knowledge, confidence, and resilience to make informed decisions for their well-being.
Measurable Goals (August–December 2025):
1. Reach at least 200 students across schools in the community.
2. Conduct 5+ interactive workshops with active participation.
3. Establish an anonymous question platform in every participating school to address sensitive queries.
4. Develop and distribute visual learning materials (posters, digital content, handouts).

About the Millennium Fellow

Manju KC, a resilient warrior against various mental health challenges, is a brilliant and hardworking student at the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Born in Bardiya District, Nepal, she now resides in Lalitpur City, living in a rented home while pursuing her higher studies.
Initially a quiet and shy girl, her four-year battle with mental health challenges transformed her into a stronger, sharper, and more empathetic individual. On August 14, 2025, she officially stopped her medication, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life. Through self-learning and perseverance, she not only overcame her own struggles but also extended a helping hand to many others facing similar mental health issues.
Actively engaged on social media platforms, Manju creates and shares informative videos to inspire and educate. Though she has not yet been formally involved in leadership programs, her deep understanding, lived experience, and empathy equip her with the qualities of a natural leader. She is determined to guide learners, support communities, and contribute meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals, standing as a beacon of hope and motivation for many.
