" I no longer want to only worry about injustices and share my thought on social media. I want to challenge it and introduce a system that ensures women to exist where digital freedom includes safety, respect, and justice. And, I am sure this can bring a ray of hope. Being a Millennium Fellow is the foundation that can bring this hope to life. In fact,a ray of hope is all it takes to light the way. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SafeTEA: Digital Safety for Women in Bangladesh
For a country like Bangladesh where digital devices and platforms has reached higher than the literacy rate it is actually quite a challenge. I want to work on this project to ensure safety of women in online platforms. But, the resources and laws are very slow and big organizations like Meta do not really take Bangladesh seriously and even though the Laws exist, there is not really any fruitful results due to people's unawareness of laws and procedures. in today's time stalking, AI made contents or personal pictures spreading has increased rapidly. My idea is to create something that teaches the women and their families how to respond to these, how they can take necessary steps against the harassments, focusing on digital literacy and awareness. By digital literacy I mean, knowing how to report, who to report to, how to secure their accounts and the Laws. Also, to ensure strong support from justice system in Bangladesh. and I wanna make sure they know it and harasser back off, be scared of being exposed, publicly shamed, get punished and the nation know if one can be identified rest of them can as well.
