" I am excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship as it gives me the opportunity to learn, develop, and contribute meaningfully to the society. I believe that even small efforts, with sincerity and consistency, can create lasting changes—whether it is through simple acts of responsibility at home or taking collective action. Together, we can work towards becoming better individuals while building a better and sustainable community. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: The Violet Project

The inspiration behind the name of this project is to blur and mix the strict lines of gender roles that are set on kids from a young age; when you mix the colours pink and blue, you get violet! While some existing shows and comics explore these themes, they can sometimes feel forced or aren't readily accessible in many regions, including my own country, India. I aim to create more accessible, fun and engaging comics and cartoons with characters of diverse backgrounds so kids can relate to their community and a fictional universe where challenging stereotypes isn't just a plot point, but the norm. Through this I wish to introduce thoughts and ideas about non-conforming genders and the diversity of gender identities, fostering inclusivity and self-worth for children of diverse gender identities. I hope this project empowers children to be whoever they want to be, embrace their unique identities and challenge stereotypes, even in developing countries where these conversations are still considered taboo.
