" “Justice without equity is incomplete. My passion for bail reform, the abolition of the death penalty, and addressing racial disparities in the justice system drives me to pursue meaningful change. The Millennium Fellowship offers a powerful space to collaborate with like-minded peers and strengthen my advocacy. I am excited to grow as a leader and transform my vision for justice into tangible impact within communities.” "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Understanding FGM: Facts, Myths, and Realities

I am the author of the FGM awareness zine, responsible for writing, designing, and publishing all of the content. I also served as the outreach lead during my tabling events, where I engaged with students and community members to inform and educate them about FGM and distribute my zine as an educational resource.
My project, “Understanding FGM: Facts, Myths, and Realities,” aimed to educate Pace students and faculty about the practice of FGM and dispel common myths surrounding it. Education is the first step in advocacy, so my goal was to provide clear information about what FGM is, where and how it occurs, who is most vulnerable, warning signs that it may be happening, how to report concerns, and additional resources for learning more.
I hope to continue this work in the future through more tabling events and expanded outreach. I also plan to collaborate with Pace’s Office of Wellness or the Provost’s Office to publish short-form educational content about FGM on their social media platforms to reach an even larger audience.
