" "Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." I am excited to be a part of the Millennium Fellowship because this is a staircase that will help me climb towards my goal of bringing an advancement to society. And this quote above by Elie Wiesel is my motivation for the aim I am working for. I am working towards ending this silence of lack of awareness about human rights. And since this silence encourages the tormentor, I am motivated to work towards the goal of ending this silence. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Reducing Inequality: The Passivity of the Unequals

Despite being one of the fastest growing economies, India continues to suffer from the deep-rooted socio-economic inequality based on caste, gender, and regional basis. An emerging phenomenon behind this existing inequality is the ‘passivity of the Unequals whereby the marginalized sections owing to the exclusion and systematic barrier they face exhibit a lack of resistance towards these inequalities. This report examines the persistence of inequality in India, explores how passivity reinforces it, and evaluates reforms that can dismantle structural disadvantages. Using policy analysis, data, and case studies, the project presents a comprehensive approach to understanding and addressing inequality.
