" I'm excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it will help me grow as a future doctor who not only treats patients but also understands how to improve community health. I do the work I do because I've seen how access to healthcare can shape lives, and I want to be part of solutions that make good health a reality for everyone "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Health Access Initiative

This project focuses on bridging the gap between medical knowledge and community awareness. Many preventable health issues—such as anemia, malnutrition, diabetes, and hypertension—go unnoticed because people don’t have access to reliable information or affordable check-ups. Through Health Bridges, I would organize awareness sessions on preventive healthcare, nutrition, and hygiene in partnership with local clinics and student volunteers. The project would also facilitate basic health screenings and create a referral pathway to nearby healthcare facilities.

About the Millennium Fellow

Harshith Raghavendra is a hard working, curious medical student studying at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences under Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Sciences. He was born in Chitradurga, a small town in the south india state of karnataka. Growing up, one thing he knew for sure was that he wanted to become a doctor and now he is on the journey to fulfill his lifelong dream. Back in his school days he did a lot of volunteering activities as part of his Social Awareness Programme in school and even now, in between his busy schedule at med school he finds the time to volunteer at medical camps conducted on the first sunday of every month and that is something that he really enjoys because its a combination of two things he really enjoys and is good at- medicine and social service. He hopes he gets many more opportunities like this which might help him improve his clinical skills, strengthen his leadership qualities and at the same time serve society and have a positive impact on it.
