" I believe quality healthcare is a right, not a privileged. Joining the Millennium Fellowship gives me a chance to bring about real change, reaching the marginalised communities and supporting SDG 3: Good health and Well-being. I am super excited to learn and collaborate alongside like-minded global change makers. "
Millennium Fellowship Project: SheHealth
My project is called SheHealth. It aligns with SDG 3 of the UN—Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. It's a campaign to combat iron-deficiency anemia, starting with young women, college-going girls. I was inspired to do this because recently, there was a blood donation drive on campus, and most of the student volunteers, especially girls, were rejected due to low hemoglobin levels. This event highlighted a silent yet widely prevalent health issue among youngsters. Through SheHealth, I aim to raise awareness, promote early detection and preventive care. The campaign will include free hemoglobin screening camps, workshops, and educational sessions on iron-rich nutrition and menstrual health, and the distribution of leaflets on guidelines for managing anemia. I also plan on having digital outreach to educate students quickly and efficiently. The goal is to reach at least 100-150 students on campus with SheHealth 1.0. And maybe with collaborations and further help, we could expand the reach later with SheHealth 2.0?
