" I am truly excited to be a Millennium Fellow because it allows me to be part of a global community united by a shared vision of impact. The chance to collaborate with peers from diverse backgrounds and learn from inspiring mentors is something I deeply value. I believe this fellowship will not only strengthen my leadership skills but also broaden my perspective, helping me contribute more meaningfully to the communities I serve and to the larger goals of creating sustainable change. "

Millennium Fellowship Project: Leaving No Community Behind

As a medical student in India, a country marked by its diversity and vast population. I have had the opportunity to interact with people from a wide range of communities and socioeconomic backgrounds, both in hospital settings and during free medical camps where I regularly volunteer. One recurring observation that stands out- a significant number of individuals, particularly from rural and underserved areas, are unaware of the various government schemes and welfare programs available to them. Despite the existence of these well intentioned policies, a glaring gap persists between policy availability and public awareness. This highlights the urgent need for more accessible, transparent, and user friendly ways of disseminating information about government schemes. To address this gap, my project aims to develop a citizen centric digital portal that enables individuals across the country to easily discover programs they are eligible for , based on their socioeconomic status (classified based on their income, education and family size), and other applicable reservations .It will not only match users with relevant welfare schemes, but also provide direct access to official websites and locate the nearest government offices or hospitals where they can apply or avail the services.

About the Millennium Fellow

Shreya Ann Varghese is someone who carries warmth in her smile, effortlessly brightening the days of those around her. She thrives in team spirit, finding purpose in creating and achieving together. Being a leader who can delegate and give credit where it's due comes naturally to her. She has this unique ability to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the people she works with and is also self aware about her abilities and shortcomings. She is someone who loves bringing people together to have a shared sense of belonging and would never be able to do any of this without the unconditional support and love from her family and friends.
